Islamabad – IRNA – The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan announced our country’s readiness to barter Pakistan’s agricultural products with Iranian agricultural industries and machinery.
According to a report by IRNA on Thursday from the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Industries of Pakistan, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of Agriculture and Industries of Pakistan, during a meeting with Reza Amiri Moghadam, Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, today in Islamabad, stressed the importance of developing joint trade with a focus on the agricultural products sector.
He added: Pakistan is ready to open new avenues of cooperation with Iran in the field of plant quarantine, improvement and quality control of goods, especially joint measures to ensure food security.
Amiri Moghadam, Ambassador of Iran, said: We are planning to increase the import of rice and meat from Pakistan and at the same time, we want to barter Pakistan’s agricultural products with Iranian agricultural machinery industries.
In this meeting, he pointed out some of the problems faced by Iranian drivers entering Pakistan related to importing goods from this country and asked the Pakistani side to pay attention to addressing such obstacles.
He also asked Pakistan to issue a license to export live livestock to Iran.
The Pakistani Minister of Agriculture also called for increasing exports of citrus fruits, vegetables, corn, rice and hot meat to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The parties agreed to form a permanent technical committee to advance agricultural cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
